Botox Q & A

What is Botox?

Botox is an FDA-approved cosmetic injectable derived from a botulinum toxin that improves the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines, forehead lines, and crow’s feet. Dr. Poulos strategically injects Botox around your eyebrows, forehead, and at the outer corners of your eyes, depending on your individual needs. The botulinum toxin works underneath your skin in the muscles to help lines and wrinkles appear smoother so you look younger.

How does Botox work?

The ingredients in Botox temporarily paralyze the muscles that lead to wrinkles. Over the years, you make the same facial expressions repeatedly. Each time you squint, frown, and raise your eyebrows, your muscles contract and cause your skin to fold and crease.

Botox reduces this muscle activity so you can still make your usual facial expressions, but your frown lines and crow’s feet become less noticeable.

Most Botox treatments take about 10 minutes, and you could see results just 24-48 hours after your appointment. The results can last up to four months for moderate to severe frown lines, making Botox an ideal solution to a smoother, more youthful appearance.

How many Botox injections will I need?

Depending on the area you’re having treated, Dr. Poulos could inject three areas in the muscles around the outside of your eyes for crow’s feet, five injections into the muscles in your forehead, and five between your brows and on your forehead for frown lines.

How safe is Botox?

Botox is one of the most researched cosmetic injectables available today. More than 15 years of clinical studies show its effectiveness, safety, and strength when you receive it from a medical professional like Dr. Poulos. She knows exactly where to inject Botox so you receive the maximum benefit without looking overdone.

There’s little to no downtime after a Botox injection. Typically, all you feel is a little pinch when Dr. Poulos injects the solution into your forehead, between your eyebrows, or around your eyes. After your appointment, you can return to your daily activities without further interruption.

If you want to minimize the appearance of lines around your eyes and across your forehead, Botox is an ideal solution. Call the Kissimmee or Orlando office today to schedule a consultation or book online.
