After 32 years of serving patients in the Central Florida area at Ramirez and Poulos MD PA, Dr. Ramirez has made the significantly personal decison to retire. We are both saddened to see him go and elated that he will be off to enjoy his retirement. His last day will be July 31st, 2024.

Ricardo J. Ramirez, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist serving the communities of Orlando and Kissimmee, Florida, for over 30 years at Ramirez & Poulos MD, PA.

Dr. Ramirez went to college at the University of Puerto Rico in San Juan, where he also earned his medical degree from the university’s School of Medicine. He then moved to the United States and did his internship and residency at Fitzsimmons Army Medical Center in Aurora, Colorado, where he was selected chief resident.

During his residency, Dr. Ramirez also served as a flight surgeon with the 224th Military Intelligence Battalion. He later worked as chief of the ophthalmology department and as assistant chief of surgery at Irwin Army Community Hospital at Fort Riley, Kansas. Dr. Ramirez served with distinction and was awarded a Flight Surgeon Badge in 1982, an Army Commendation Medal in 1983, and an Army Meritorious Service Medal in 1989.

After years of successful military service, Dr. Ramirez became chief of the ophthalmology department at the Orlando Regional Medical Center in Orlando, Florida, and also began to work at the private practice that is now Ramirez & Poulos, MD.

Dr. Ramirez is certified with a number of professional organizations, including the American Board of Ophthalmology and the National Board of Medical Examiners. He also has hospital privileges at prestigious hospitals in Orlando and Kissimmee so he can offer the best and most convenient treatment to his patients.
